Patient resources

Whether it’s your first time at a FlexCare clinic or your 50th, we work hard to help you feel confident and ready for your appointment.

Preparing for your first visit

Bring your stuff
Remember to bring anything you may need from home that makes you more comfortable such as portable oxygen supplies, a wheelchair or walker, or a favorite blanket or pillow.

Have an access port? Let us know.
If you have a venous access port or have had difficulty with intravenous (IV) treatments in the past, please tell our team when you schedule your appointment.

Update your insurance information
If your insurance or contact information has changed, make sure to call us right away. Insurance changes may delay your treatment.

Tips for feeling your best during treatments

Diet and exercise

Eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and get at least 30 minutes of exercise 4 to 5 days a week. Personalize your plan with your doctor.

Sleep and stress management

Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Do things that make you happy. Try deep breathing or meditation exercises to help you relax.

Stay healthy

Minimize your risk of infections by washing your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds. Pace yourself and daily activities.

Frequently asked questions

Most patients get their first infusion within a week after we get the referral from their doctor. Sometimes it can take a little longer. After we get the referral, we submit paperwork to your health insurance. If they need more information, we’ll work with your doctor.

Infusion times vary based on medication, dosage and monitoring after the infusion. Some infusions last 30 minutes while others may take several hours. Our infusion suites have streaming audio and video, comfortable  recliners and workspaces to help you pass the time.

You have the right to choose where you get your infusions. If you’re currently receiving infusion therapy from a different provider, ask your doctor to submit a referral to FlexCare Infusion Centers to continue your infusion therapy with us.

Schedule your infusion or injection therapy at least 10 to 14 days before or after you get a vaccination. This gives your body enough time to respond to the vaccine.

If you need to cancel, please contact your clinic and notify a member of our team as soon as possible. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled. There is a $50 fee for no-shows or appointments that are not canceled within 24 hours of the appointment.

Most people can safely drive themselves home afterward. We do not require you to have a driver.

Eat normally to prevent nausea or lightheadedness. Drink a lot of water and stay hydrated, this will make the IV start easier.

Continue taking your daily medications (for example, medications that help manage high blood pressure, thyroid conditions, diabetes or antidepressants, etc.). If you are taking antibiotics for an active infection, please contact your provider or infusion center for guidance.

Bringing children to appointments can be challenging. For everyone’s safety and privacy, children must stay under your supervision while in the clinic. Private rooms for families may not be available at all locations. Please call your location directly with questions.
